Stanley Kubrick and The Seafarers by Peter A. Mello

Stanley Kubrick was definitely one of my favorite film directors. Some of his classics include Lolita, Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb, 2001: A Space Odyssey, A Clockwork Orange, Barry Lyndon, The Shining, Full Metal Jacket, Eyes Wide Shut and The Seafarers.

The Seafarers? Come on, you don’t remember that 1953 classic work extolling the benefits of membership in the Seafarers International Union. It was his third film, first in color and one of only three documentaries. It’s definitely worth watching.

Actually I did see this, I also have shares to sell in Brooklyn Bridge Developers, INC.

Seriously… I did see it along with every other of my favorite director’s films while writing a paper in 12th grade. Their just aren’t too many local guys for a kid from the bronx to look up to.
