In the Comings and Goings article in the Travel Section of the Sunday New York Times (Sept. 23, 2007), Hilary Howard writes about an interesting on the water tour of New York City movie and television sites. You’ve Seen the Movies; Now Tour the Locations.
Lights, Camera, Action! is a special tour put together by the NY Water Taxi whose website offers:
Experience “Hollywood on the Hudson” while enjoying the majesty of New York Harbor and the financial district as you visit the locations used in your favorite TV shows and movies. All tours are led by New York City actors and actresses courtesy of On Location Tours who share behind-the-scenes scoop and inside industry information.
The tour begins with a short walk through the Seaport where locations from classic films such as Wall Street, Godzilla, and Annie Hall can be seen. Then board New York Water Taxi and visit the Brooklyn and Manhattan waterfronts to see locations from The French Connection, I Now Pronounce you Chuck & Larry, Working Girl and many others. Sail past Ellis Island and revisit scenes from The Godfather Part II and X Men. Float under the Brooklyn Bridge which was used a location in Saturday Night Fever, Hudson Hawk, CSI: NY, and Law and Order SUV. Then stroll through Battery Park and see locations from Superman Returns, Inside Man, and The Royal Tenenbaums.
The Tour is two and a half hours in length and departs from the South Street Seaport on Thursdays at 4:00pm beginning September 20th and runs every Thursday through October 27th. Tours will resume again in May 2008.
