Simulation: You are on this ship and know all to well what has happened before.
How do you feel as:
- Ensign?
- Officer?
- Captain?
How would you react?

It is for times like this that you train. The training isn’t just to master skills of procedure and the rules of engagement. But also to build both humility and confidence so that the reaction is not out of panic or blind fear.
I worry less about the decision making on board the ship and more about the decisions made in Washington in the event that a military engagement occurs.
