Nathan Kensinger is a Brooklyn photographer/filmmaker who currently has a show at the Brooklyn Public Library titled Twilight on the Waterfront. His work was recently reviewed in the New York Times City Room Blog by Sewell Chan, Have Camera, Will Trespass, On Brooklyn’s Waterfront.
Kensinger is a talented artist who captures the current state of deterioration we find in most waterfronts across the United States. Our commercial and recreational maritime infrastructure is in a shambles while most of the positive developments taking place involve luxury condominiums. A port (and nation) can only be as healthy as the maritime activity that created and sustains it. Unfortunately, as Kensinger demonstrates, much of our maritime history and heritage is at high risk of being lost forever.
