Not the usual light fare for Foto Friday but sometimes we need to be reminded that she can be a cruel sea.
These are the last photos of the Irish tall ship Asgard II before she sank in the Bay of Biscay. They were taken by French Customs. Previous post here and here.

Having just returned from a week’s sailing -21stDec/28th Dec. on the Bessie Ellen Tall Ship around the Canaries I feel heart broken to hear of the sinking of the Asgard.
Both my sons Michael and Conor sailed ‘Tall Ships’ to America via the London Sailing project, the 1st leg i.e. Bay of Biscay and Michael tried to sail back via the Asguard.
I do hope Ireland will once again gain a Tall Ship for it’s young folk. I now approaching 62 next birthday certainly loved my week sailing and can’t wait to venture on a Tall Ship again.
Kind regards,
Therese Crowley
Really sad photos.
