It was no April Fool’s joke, but rather a malicious act by an sneaky cephalopod. On February 12, 2009, the site of the crime was the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium. Here’s what happened:
Turning lemons into lemonade (which is probably better than turning octopus into fried calamari) the Santa Monica Pier Aquarium is running The Octopus Flood Art & Story Contest. There are 2 categories Grades K – 2 and 3 – 5 and lots of valuable prizes are at stake. So join in the fun and spin a yarn about this cephalopodic misadventure. Entry deadline is April 15, 2009.

Peter…..i have enjoyed your blog….if you check out my website you will understand why…..but i am writing to tell you about a new book “Women of the Sea” by John and Patience Wubben…..its available through the authors or the Columbia River Maritime Museum in Astoria, Oregon…..its a fascinating collection of stories about some incredible women, one of whom you may already be familiar with, Captain Debbie Dempsey, the first women graduate of Maine Maritime with a long and distinguished career….its about West Coast women who work in the maritime industry…..i am honored to be included as a maritime artist….but the book is really about women with stories and histories….anyway, just thought you’d be interested……..
You really find the coolest things to post…! thank you!
Thanks so much! Think you’re gonna like a post that’s been in the works for a while but’ll come up in the next few days. ;-)
