Ever wonder how big ships deal with big storms like Hurricane Sandy?

Yesterday I posted about the sinking of the much beloved HMS Bounty during Hurricane Sandy and the tragic loss of one of her crew. The US Coast Guard continues the search for her popular Captain, Robin Walbridge who remains missing as of this post.

In case you ever wondered how big ships deal with big storms here’s an interesting video from Maersk Lines that explains their process.

  1. Hurricane Sandy was in general devastating even if our country was not directly affected but coming from a seafaring family, it always bring me sadness whenever my brother travels and there’s a hurricane coming. I know that he has enough offshore trainings that made him ready to face his chosen career but I always fear it whenever Mother Nature decides to play with us. I think that no matter how you have been in the industry, you only have yourself to rely on when disasters strike.
